Retro Staycations - 1950s Airstream Retreat on the Isle of Wight
Accommodation
Guests choose from six restored Airstream caravans (Walt, Freya, Humphrey, Little Eva) and two camping pods, all set on a working farm. Each caravan comes with a private BBQ, fire pit, and picnic table plus a fully equipped kitchenette with gas hob, oven, and fridge. The camping pods provide electricity, running water nearby, and enough space for a family of four.
Amenities
A 24-hour farm shop with an honesty box sells fresh local produce, including bacon, sausages, eggs, bread, and firewood. The site has a minimarket, luggage storage, and a shared toilet and shower block that guests describe as spotless. Free private parking is available, and the garden includes an outdoor fireplace, picnic area, and sun terrace.
Points of Interest
The hotel offers bike tours, pub crawls, and walking tours directly from the site, plus boating in the surrounding area. Osborne House is 11 km away, Blackgang Chine 22 km, and Robin Hill 7 km. Southampton Airport is 50 km from the property, reachable by car or ferry from Ryde.
Dining
The farm shop operates 24/7 with an honesty payment system, supplying eggs, gold-top milk, fruit, vegetables, burgers, and logs for the fire pit. Guests can order a breakfast hamper (£16.50) with six sausages, six bacon, six eggs, tomato, mushroom, and a farmhouse loaf. BBQ facilities are available on every pitch, and the shop also sells eco charcoal and firelighters.
Amenities
Family rooms and interconnected rooms can accommodate larger groups, with board games and a large field for children to play. The site allows dogs, with several reviews mentioning friendly welcome for furry guests. The retro caravans include a sofa bed and bunk beds, separated from the main living area for privacy.
